Who was Buried in Seaside?
In 1981 Mary Louise Day was a 13 year-old girl living in a very dysfunctional household in Seaside, California. One day Mary disappeared. According to her younger sister, the last she saw of Mary she was being beaten by her stepfather and dragged into a bedroom. The next morning the parents told the kids that Mary had run away. They also told the kids they could no longer play in a certain part of the backyard. Years later her sister came forward and an investigation finally began.
For 22 years there was absolutely no trace or record if Mary. In 2003 a woman claimed her identify. The other mountain of circumstantial evidence that pointed to homicide was dismissed by police in 2017 when they quickly closed the case and were satisfied Mary had been found. But someone was buried in a backyard and too many unanswered questions remain.
